Terre d'Arengo, Quasi Arido 2023

This is the oaked version of the sparkling Manto Pecorino, made from the same base wine. The grapes grow at an altitude of 300 meters, on a soil of sand, limestone, and clay with stone fragments. Twelve months in new barriques and tonneaux give this white wine its unique character.

What you smell
Acacia, smoke, and vanilla from the barrel, with a fruity note towards ripe pear.

What you taste
Full and broad on the palate, with firm fresh acidity that tightens everything up. There's a salty, stony undertone in the finish. The oak aging provides body and length; the acidity keeps it vibrant. Can be aged until 2031.

How it's made
100% Pecorino. Fermentation and aging for twelve months in new barriques and tonneaux. This explains the creamy texture and the notes of vanilla and smoke.

Serve
Serve at 10 to 12 degrees. A generous white wine glass allows the oak aroma to come into its own.

Pairs well with

  • Seafood risotto with bottarga: the salty fish roe matches the briny undertone, and the body balances the creamy risotto.
  • Porchetta-style rabbit with quince puree: the fuller structure can handle the fat of the meat, and the acidity cuts through it.
  • Grilled chicken with lemon and herbs: the oak notes play with the grilled meat, and the fresh acidity lifts the lemon.
