Tenuta San Jacopo, Quarto di Luna 2025

Tenuta San Jacopo has been making wine in the hills of Cavriglia, Tuscany, since 1737. This Chardonnay comes from a 2.5-hectare vineyard at 300 meters altitude, organically certified. Edition of 5,000 bottles.

What you smell
Distinct tropical fruit: pineapple, passion fruit, and yellow peach. Floral notes and a slightly briny hint in the background.

What you taste
Round and soft on the palate, yet with enough freshness to remain smooth and drinkable. The finish is clean and satisfying, without heavy buttery notes as the wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation.

How it's made
100% Chardonnay, hand-picked in late August. Short cold maceration with dry ice for extra aroma. 90% fermented in stainless steel, 10% in 500-liter barrels. Then six months of aging on fine lees (meaning: on the yeast residue), which gives the wine extra body without dominating wood flavors.

Serving
Serve at 8 to 10 degrees Celsius. Decanting not necessary. A slightly larger white wine glass helps to bring out the fruit.

Pairs well with

  • Roast chicken with lemon and herbs: the roundness of the wine matches the roasted flavors, the freshness cuts through the fat.
  • Risotto with grilled zucchini: the soft texture of the wine parallels the creamy rice.
  • Tuna sashimi with mango: the tropical fruit in the glass picks up the sweetness of mango without overpowering the fish.
