Quinta São Gião, Gião Loureiro 2025

Family domain from Guimarães in northern Portugal. The vineyards are on granite soil, which is reflected in the crisp, fresh style. The labels refer to the work of painter Jorge Pinheiro.

Aroma
White flowers, citrus, and some white fruit. Aromatic without being sweet.

Taste
Fresh, crisp acidity makes it lively and mouth-watering. It has more body than you'd expect from a Vinho Verde, with a long finish and a salty, stony undertone that calls for food.

How it's made
100% Loureiro from granite soil in the Ave subregion. Vinification by Pedro Campos and Nuno Reis.

Serving
Serve chilled, between 8 and 10 degrees. Decanting is not necessary.

Pairs well with

  • Sushi: the fresh acidity and light body preserve the freshness of the fish and cleanse the palate beautifully.
  • Steamed or grilled seafood: the salty undertone perfectly complements shellfish.
  • Spicy Indian or Thai curry: the cool freshness tames the heat without overpowering the spices.
