Quinta São Gião, Gião Branco 2025
Quinta São Gião is a family business from Guimarães, in northern Portugal. The vineyards are on granite soil, which gives this Vinho Verde a light, fresh approach. A white wine for weeknights, not for the cellar.
What you smell
Citrus, especially lemon and some lime. Also a light floral note.
What you taste
Light and smooth on the palate, with a fresh acidity that keeps the glass lively without becoming sharp. Fruity with a short, crisp finish. Drink young.
How it's made
A blend of Loureiro, Arinto, Trajadura, and Maria Gomes. The vineyards are on granite soil, which contributes to the crisp, fresh style. With 11.5% alcohol, it remains light. The wine is very lightly sparkling.
Serve
Serve well chilled, between 6 and 8 degrees. Decanting is not necessary. A standard white wine glass will suffice.
Pairs well with
-
Grilled white fish: the fresh acidity cuts through the fat and keeps the fish light.
-
Pan-fried prawns with garlic: the citrus notes enhance the salty sea flavour.
-
Salad with grilled chicken: its light body allows the dishes room without overpowering them.
