Carlo Schmitt, Weißburgunder trocken 2025

The grapes grow on pure slate soils, a subsoil that ensures precise ripening and a recognizable stony character. The vines are around 40 years old, which gives extra depth and balance. Harvested by hand.

What you smell
Subtle fruit, light and fresh, without overpowering aromas. A soft, creamy hint in the background.

What you taste
Fresh and crisp on the palate, with a lively acidity that keeps the wine bright and focused. Beneath that, a slight creaminess and a salty, stony undertone from the slate. Lean in body with a clean finish. Drink young.

How it's made
100% Pinot Blanc from old vines on blue slate. Fermented in stainless steel and kept on the lees for a long time, which explains the creamy texture without the use of wood.

Serve
Serve at 8 to 10 degrees. Decanting not necessary. A standard white wine glass is sufficient.

Pairs well with

  • Grilled white fish with lemon: the fresh acidity mirrors the lemon and keeps the dish light.
  • Goat cheese salad: the salty, stony note beautifully complements the tangy cheese.
  • Risotto with asparagus: the creamy texture of the wine matches the creamy rice.
