Accornero, Bricco del Bosco Grignolino

Accornero has been making wine in Vignale Monferrato, in the heart of Monferrato Casalese, since 1897. The Bricco del Bosco comes from vineyards planted in 1970 on east-facing slopes at an altitude of 216 meters. A wine that shows why Grignolino is one of Piedmont's most unique grape varieties.

Aroma
Red fruit and wild strawberry, with a recognizable hint of white pepper typical of this grape.

Taste
Light, bright ruby red wine with a refined character. The tannins are present but fine, providing grip without drying out the mouth. Juicy red fruit, a peppery finish, and surprising length for a wine of this body.

Winemaking
100% Grignolino from 1970 vineyards, yield limited to 60 hl per hectare with green pruning and bunch thinning in early August. Traditional vinification with programmed pump-overs and spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Matured in stainless steel, bottled in spring after cold stabilization. No oak, allowing the grape to express itself fully.

Serving suggestion
Serve at 16 degrees in a Burgundy glass. Decanting is not necessary.

Pairs well with

  • Vitello Tonnato: The fresh acidity and light tannins cut through the creamy tuna sauce without overpowering the veal.
  • Tagliatelle with sage butter and Parmesan: The wine's peppery accent enhances the sage, and the red fruit balances the salty cheese.
  • Grilled chicken with herbs: Light enough not to overwhelm chicken, with enough structure for the grilled flavor.
