Neri, Etna Rosso 2024 Contrada Arrigo

This red wine comes from the northeast flank of Mount Etna, near Linguaglossa, at an altitude of about 700 meters. The vines are between 30 and 65 years old and root in shallow volcanic soil. The yield remains low, which brings concentration to the grapes.

What you smell
Ripe red fruit and cherry, with a subtle complexity behind it. The overall aroma is fine and balanced, not heavy.

What you taste
Smooth and silky on the palate: the tannins provide structure without drying out your mouth. The flavor lingers pleasantly and is beautifully balanced.

How it's made
100% Nerello Mascalese. Fermentation with selected yeasts in open vats, with cap immersion. Maceration on the skins for 8 to 10 days. Followed by 11 months of aging in second and third-use French oak barrels, which gives a soft roundness without pronounced oak notes.

Serving
Serve at 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. Decanting is not necessary.

Pairs well with

  • Beef tartare: the fresh acidity and fine tannins cut through the raw meat and keep it fresh.
  • Grilled red meat: the wine's structure can stand up to grilled, savory flavors without overpowering them.
  • Mild aged cheese: the silky texture complements the creaminess of the cheese.

Scores
James Suckling: 95 points
Doctor Wine: 94 points
I Vini di Veronelli: 92 points
Falstaff: 90 points
Gambero Rosso: 2 black glasses
Guida Bio: 5 leaves
