Domaine Ramonet, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Morgeot" 2022

Ramonet is one of the most sought-after names in the Côte de Beaune. The family has been working the same plots in Chassagne-Montrachet for generations, with Morgeot being one of their strongest premier crus. Demand structurally exceeds supply; allocations are scarce.

What you smell
Ripe pear and lemon peel, white flowers, a hint of honey and hazelnut. Beneath that, a slightly smoky note that adds depth.

What you taste
Full-bodied and powerful, with a creamy texture balanced by crisp acidity. The wine feels broad without becoming heavy. Long finish with a salty, mineral undertone that invites you to take another sip. Already approachable, but has at least five to eight years of potential.

How it's made
Hand-picked Chardonnay, pressed and then aged for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels. A portion of new wood contributes to the subtle smokiness and extra texture without dominating the wine.

Serve
Between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius. A spacious Burgundy glass allows the complex aromas the room they need.

Pairs well with

  • Seared scallops with lemon butter: the richness of the wine matches the butter, the acidity cuts through the fat and lifts the citrus.
  • Roast chicken with mushroom sauce: creamy with creamy, while the hazelnut notes in the wine enhance the earthy mushrooms.
  • Grilled turbot with hollandaise: a classic combination where the wine's structure has enough weight to stand up to the sauce.

Scores

  • Vivino: 4.4 / 5 (average score)
