The Barton family has managed this estate in Saint-Julien since 1821. The 2022 is the first vintage from their new winery, which is noticeable in the precision of the final result. A classic Bordeaux that is immediately convincing but can also be cellared for years.

What do you smell<!--en-->Blackcurrants and blackberries, with graphite and a hint of tobacco beneath. Subtly spicy from the oak, without dominating.<!--en--><!--en-->What do you taste<!--en-->Full and powerful, but with a silky smooth texture that keeps the tannins elegant. Juicy dark fruit and a hint of chocolate. The acidity keeps everything fresh, the finish is mineral and lingers. Already approachable, but has potential for 15 to 20 years.

Cabernet Sauvignon (56.5%), Merlot (41%) and Cabernet Franc (2.5%). Matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% new wood. The new oak gives structure without overpowering the fruit.

Between 16°C and 18°C. Decant 2 to 4 hours before serving, even if the wine is surprisingly open while young. A large Burgundy glass works well to allow the aromas to unfold.

- Roast leg of lamb: the fat in the lamb softens the tannins, while the spiciness of the wine complements rosemary and garlic.
- Grilled sirloin steak: the smoky crust and rich meat match the dark fruit notes and structure of the wine.
- Duck breast with cherry reduction: the fruity sauce picks up on the berry notes, and the wilder character of duck can stand up to the power of this Bordeaux.

Bordeaux is de bakermat van de blend: vrijwel geen enkele rode wijn hier bestaat uit één druif. De rivier de Gironde deelt de streek in tweeën, en aan elke oever overheerst een andere druif en een andere stijl.
