Domaine Ricardelle de Lautrec, Lune Viognier 2025

Ricardelle de Lautrec is located in the Languedoc, just outside Carcassonne. The estate works entirely organically and focuses on small, manual harvests. The Lune line is their entry-level white, but it showcases what Viognier can do in this warm climate: expressive without becoming heavy.

What you smell
Ripe apricot, floral honey, and hawthorn. Beneath that, a hint of candied lemon keeps it fresh.

What you taste
Full and soft on the palate, with juicy stone fruit supported by a fresh acidity. This ensures the wine doesn't feel heavy despite its richness. A slightly salty, mineral undertone adds length to the finish.

How it's made
100% Viognier from organically certified vineyards. Vinification at low temperatures to preserve the aromatics.

Serve
Well chilled, between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius. A tulip-shaped glass helps to bring out the floral aromas.

Pairs well with

  • Risotto with green asparagus: the creaminess of the rice mirrors the wine's texture, while the asparagus highlights its mineral side.
  • Roasted chicken with lemon and thyme: the juicy poultry matches the full body, and the herbs complement the floral nose.
  • Pan-fried sea bass with butter sauce: the richness of the sauce calls for a wine with volume, and the fresh acidity cuts through it.

Languedoc-Roussillon is de grootste wijnstreek van Frankrijk en leverde lang vooral goedkope liters. In de koele hoek rond Limoux gebeurt iets anders: daar staan Chardonnay, Pinot Noir en Chenin op hoogte, met Atlantische wind in plaats van mediterrane hitte.
