Neri, Etna Bianco Arrigo DOC 2024

This white wine comes from the slopes of Mount Etna, around Linguaglossa at an altitude of 700 meters. The vines are 30 to 50 years old and grow on volcanic soil. This combination of altitude and soil gives the wine its fresh, salty character.

What you smell
White flowers and citrus. Fresh and quite pronounced, without being heavy.

What you taste
Fresh acidity keeps the wine lively, with a salty, stony undertone from the volcanic soil. Clear and crisp on the palate, with a long finish.

How it's made
90% Carricante and 10% Catarratto. Fermentation in stainless steel at 14°C with selected yeasts, followed by 3 to 4 months of aging in steel. No wood, so all emphasis is on fruit and freshness.

Serve
Serve at 10 to 12°C. Decanting is not necessary. A regular white wine glass is sufficient.

Pairs well with

  • Raw fish or fish carpaccio: the fresh acidity and salty note complement the delicate flavor without overpowering it.
  • Risotto with vegetables or white fish: the crisp wine cuts through the richness of the dish.
  • Grilled or baked fish: the citrus note acts like a wedge of lemon.

Scores
James Suckling: 93 points
