Verrier & Fils, Vantorosso Selection

Verrier & Fils is a family domain in the Marne Valley that has been making champagne for generations. This cuvée is a collaboration between them and winemaker Vanni Pasquali of Vantorosso.

What you smell
Citrus and brioche, with a subtle floral note underneath. Fresh and inviting.

What you taste
Lively bubbles that dissolve finely without pricking. The fruit from the nose returns, with a pleasant freshness that keeps the wine light-footed. The finish is fruity and lingers for a while.

How it's made
Traditional method: the second fermentation takes place in the bottle, after which the champagne ages in the domain's cellars. This gives the fine, integrated bubble.

Serving
Serve chilled between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius. Use a tulip-shaped champagne glass or a white wine glass, not a flute. Your nose doesn't fit in a flute, causing you to miss half of the wine.

Pairs well with

  • Grilled prawns with a fresh salad: the salty taste of the prawns finds balance in the fruit and freshness of the bubbles.
  • Creamy brie or camembert: the fat of the cheese is cut through by the acidity, while the fruit offers a subtle contrast.
  • Fresh red fruits with meringue: the strawberries and raspberries in the wine mirror the dessert, and the bubbles keep it light.

Scores

  • No scores available: this is an exclusive bottling with no critical reviews.
