Apostelhoeve, Cuvée XII 2024

Since 1970, the Hulst family has been producing internationally respected wines on the Louwberg in Maastricht. Cuvée XII is their flagship, named after the twelve apostles.

What you smell
Ripe pear and peach, white flowers, and a citrus note of grapefruit. Fresh and inviting without being overly perfumed.

What you taste
Soft, juicy attack with enough acidity to keep it lively. A salty, stony undertone adds depth. The finish is clean and long-lasting.

How it's made
A blend of Müller-Thurgau, Auxerrois, and Pinot Gris. Fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to keep the fruit bright and fresh.

Serving
Serve chilled, between 8 and 10°C. A slender white wine glass allows the aromas to express themselves better.

Pairs well with

  • White asparagus with ham and butter sauce: the fresh acidity cuts through the creamy sauce, while the fruit complements the sweet asparagus.
  • Grilled sea bass: the mineral undertone matches the salty fish without dominating.
  • Mild Thai chicken salad: the touch of sweetness in the wine balances the citrus and herbs in the dish.

Scores

  • De Grote Hamersma: 8.5/10
  • Perswijn: 5 stars (excellent)
  • Vivino: 4.1/5
